West Park Nature Center
West Park Nature Center is a 100-acre, county-owned park created for residents and visitors. The park is open year-round from dawn to dusk. Amenities include a public restroom, a pavilion with picnic tables, two parking lots with handicapped access, multiple trails, and various interpretive and educational signs within its borders.
West Park Nature Center includes two miles of mountain bike trails and two walking trails. The park also has several geocaching sites within its boundaries, and in the winter months visitors can enjoy cross country skiing and snowshoeing on the walking trails. There is a large wooded area with timber management, several acres of wetlands that can be viewed from an observation deck, a small stream system, and a wildflower meadow. The Park also has 25 acres dedicated as a Certified Audubon Society Wildlife Sanctuary. In the summer of 2015, a large pavilion with a rain garden was constructed with DCNR grant funds.
