McQuiston Boat Launch
Owned by Lawrence County and is located on the Shenango River in Pulaski Township. This launch is located north of the Millennium Launch on the Shenango River.
In 2015, ground breaking was held for the McQuiston Boat Access Area. The launch is dedicated in memory of Shane McQuiston who was a local resident of Pulaski Township, a student at Wilmington High School, and an avid outdoorsman. Shane was killed in an automobile accident.
A portion of this site was donated to the County by the Braho Family for public use. This site is funded by the Lawrence County’s Act 13 Marcellus Legacy Fund.
On September 17, 2015 construction activities were completed on the site. The site is open from Dawn to Dusk, is a leave no trace facility and has parking for approximately 3 vehicles.
This site is the third county constructed launch in a series of launches identified in the 2008 County Greenways and Trails Plan. The pilot project was the Shenango Beaver River Water Trail. The intention is to get a launch every few miles for river rescue teams, PA FBC officers, and residents and visitors on and off the water safely. The County hopes in 2015 to update the Greenways Plan to identify more sites for construction, work with property owners on donations, and apply for funding to continue to build public Boat Access on all 6 waterways within the County Boundary. After launches are constructed the County will apply for State Water Trail Designation.
